Henry Babatunde Ige, fondly known as PAPA1, has extended heartfelt appreciation to his supporters, family, and party faithful following the conclusion of the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship primaries in Mushin Local Government.

Though he was not selected as the party’s flagbearer, Ige remains proud of the journey and resolute in his commitment to the development of his community.

In a congratulatory message, Ige thanked everyone who stood by him during his campaign, acknowledging the collective spirit behind his political bid.

“Though the party leadership has chosen a different path, I remain deeply grateful for the trust, confidence, and unwavering support you have shown. It is worthy of mention that this was a campaign that was fully funded by you all, I was only the face of the campaign. The support and love shown, I will never take for granted,” he said.

Describing it as his first attempt at any elective position in government, Ige noted that while the outcome may not have aligned with expectations, it marked a significant milestone in his political journey.

“Together, we have put forth a clear vision and demonstrated our collective commitment to the growth and development of Mushin.”

Ige, a long-standing loyalist of the progressive movement since the era of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), further expressed his unwavering commitment to the party.

“Although we did not emerge victorious this time, my dedication to the service of our people remains resolute. I will continue to contribute meaningfully to our community and support the All Progressives Congress (APC) in its mission to deliver good governance. I pledge my full support to the party’s candidate Hon. Tubosun Aruwe and will work collaboratively to ensure the continued progress of Mushin Local Government.”

He concluded with a rallying call to all supporters: “Primary Elections are Over! It’s Time to Win The General Election Convincingly! It’s Time To Make Mushin The Ultimate Beneficiary! Thank you once again for believing in me. Together, we will keep striving for the Mushin of Our Dreams, Where No One Will Be Left Behind!”

A Legacy of Service and Innovation

Beyond politics, Henry Ige has earned a reputation for impactful leadership and innovation. On December 27, 2019, he was appointed Chairman of the 10-Man Committee for the Removal of Abandoned Vehicles (RAVC) across Lagos State—a position in which he flourished.

Ige’s key achievements as RAVC Chairman include:

Human Capacity Development: Inaugurated 15 Ad-hoc Staff across all 57 LG/LCDAs in Lagos and empowered over 3,000 through special enforcement squads. Over 100 individuals in Mushin and beyond benefited from regular stipends.

Innovation: He introduced the RAVC Lagos Mobile App, a citizen-driven reporting tool for abandoned vehicles that inspired the Lagos State Citizen Gate and Whistle Blower App. He also pioneered computerized staff identification within the RAVC team.

Revenue Generation: Under his leadership, RAVC generated revenue that outperformed established MOT enforcement agencies for more than six consecutive months.

Political Loyalty: A progressive party man through AD, AC, ACN, and now APC, Ige is known for his non-partisan generosity, consistent support, and unwavering loyalty.

Described by many as experienced, accommodating and accessible, Henry Babatunde Ige has left a significant mark on governance and community service in Lagos State. Though this chapter ends short of elective office, his journey continues with purpose and pride—for the benefit of Mushin and its people.
