The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has launched an expedited review of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) process in response to a surge of nationwide complaints from candidates.

In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja, JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin confirmed that the board, which released the 2025 UTME results last Friday, has received an unprecedented number of complaints regarding discrepancies in published scores.

To address these concerns, JAMB is fast-tracking its annual system review—a process typically conducted months after the exams. The comprehensive analysis will scrutinize three critical phases: registration, examination, and result release.

During the conduct of the exams, every candidate had the chance to take the test, the board assured, adding that experts have been enlisted to ensure a thorough investigation.

These include members of the Computer Professionals Association of Nigeria, tertiary institution heads serving as chief external examiners, and representatives from the Educational Association and Research Network in Africa.

JAMB has pledged immediate corrective action if discrepancies are identified during the review.

This swift response comes amid growing dissatisfaction, with candidates and their families using social media to demand a review and contesting results that they claim misrepresent their performance.

Reports indicate over 8,000 formal complaints have been submitted, citing technical issues during the exams.

The national examination body assured its commitment to addressing these grievances and maintaining the integrity of the UTME process.
