Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes is facing a race against time to recover from a hamstring injury sustained during Tuesday’s win over Fulham, with early signs suggesting he could miss both legs of the Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid.
The Brazil international was forced off after just 16 minutes, pulling up sharply while chasing back to defend a counter-attack. Scans have already been conducted to assess the extent of the damage, raising serious concerns for manager Mikel Arteta as he contends with a growing injury crisis.
Speaking at a Married to the Game screening event, Gabriel’s wife, Gabrielle Figueiredo, gave a somber update: “It’s difficult. That is why he’s not here with me today. He would love to be here. Reflecting on how the couple deals with setbacks, she added, “I think the only thing that we could do is being together and be the assurance for each other. That is the thing that I (will) do when I arrive home today. And yeah, it’s not easy, but we try our best to create this bond together every day, in every difficult moment.”
