NFL Star Moro Ojomo returns to Nigeria, meets Tinubu after super bowl triumph

President Bola Tinubu on Friday welcomed Nigerian-born Super Bowl champion Morotoluwa “Moro” Ojomo to the State House in Abuja, celebrating his remarkable success in American football.
The Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman, who played a key role in his team’s Super Bowl LIX victory over the Kansas City Chiefs (40-22), arrived in Nigeria on Wednesday for a homecoming that underscores his deep connection to his roots.
Ojomo, 23, was accompanied by his father, Ololade; mother, Bimbo; and sister, Modele, as he expressed gratitude for the warm reception.
Born in Lagos, he moved to the United States at the age of seven, where he pursued his football dreams and ultimately reached the pinnacle of the sport.
Speaking on his journey, Ojomo credited his Nigerian heritage for shaping his drive and determination. “I have a drive and motivation that stem from my upbringing as a Nigerian, and my passion for this country allows me to excel. Nigeria has helped me succeed on the biggest stage.”
He also highlighted the growing presence of Nigerians in American football and the opportunities the sport offers. “It is everything when you look at the number of Africans, specifically Nigerians, in American football. The most important thing is giving our youths an opportunity to get into the sport. It is a pathway to education, high school and college degrees, and a means to put Nigeria on the global stage.”
Ojomo encouraged young Nigerians to embrace opportunities and believe in their potential. “Just believe you can do anything. I know Nigerians are great, and I believe you should take advantage of opportunities and not let anyone deter you.”
His visit not only celebrates his personal triumph but also serves as an inspiration for aspiring Nigerian athletes looking to make a mark on the global stage.
