The United Arab Emirates has officially opened a new border crossing to Oman, marking a significant step in enhancing trade and passenger movement between the two Gulf nations.

The Wam border crossing, located in Fujairah, was inaugurated under the supervision of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP), Emirates News Agency reported.

Speaking at the launch, Major General Suhail Saeed Al-Khaili, Director-General of ICP, emphasized the strategic importance of the new crossing, stating that it strengthens bilateral cooperation between the UAE and Oman while facilitating smoother cross-border trade and travel.

The visa requirements for UAE travelers entering Oman vary based on nationality. Citizens of GCC countries do not require a visa, while some foreign nationals can obtain one upon arrival.

Expats planning to travel by road must have a passport valid for at least six months from the visa issue date, along with a UAE residency permit that is valid for at least three months.

The Wam border post is expected to ease congestion at existing crossings, providing a faster and more efficient route for commuters and businesses, further deepening economic and social ties between the two nations.
