Saudi Crown Prince congratulates Trump, discusses key regional issues in first direct conversation

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) called US President Donald Trump on Wednesday to congratulate him on his inauguration and discuss regional security and economic cooperation, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
MBS conveyed warm regards on behalf of King Salman and expressed optimism about President Trump’s leadership, highlighting its potential to advance progress for the American people.
During their conversation, the two leaders focused on bolstering Middle East stability and combating terrorism.
The Crown Prince reiterated Saudi Arabia’s commitment to deepening economic ties with the US, outlining ambitious plans for $600 billion in investments over the next four years, with the potential for further growth.
He emphasized that Trump’s economic policies represent a “historic opportunity” for shared prosperity, expressing Saudi Arabia’s eagerness to enhance joint ventures and strategic investments across various sectors.
President Trump expressed gratitude for the congratulations and reaffirmed his dedication to strengthening US-Saudi relations, underlining the importance of advancing shared regional interests.
Separately, Secretary of State Marco Rubio also engaged with the Crown Prince on Wednesday. According to State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce, their discussion underscored the strength of the US-Saudi partnership, particularly in addressing shared concerns in Syria, Lebanon, Gaza, and countering the threats posed by Iran and its proxies.
