“A dream realised”: Lewis Hamilton embarks on Ferrari journey
Seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has officially begun his highly anticipated stint with Ferrari, marking a “new era” for the iconic Italian team.
The 40-year-old Briton commenced his preparations on Monday at Ferrari’s Maranello headquarters, symbolizing the start of a fresh chapter in his illustrious career.
Hamilton, who signed with Ferrari in January 2024, had been unable to engage fully with his new team until the conclusion of his commitments with Mercedes at the end of last year. Expressing his excitement on Instagram, Hamilton shared:
“There are some days that you know you’ll remember forever, and today, my first as a Ferrari driver, is one of those days. I’ve been lucky enough to have achieved things in my career I never thought possible, but part of me has always held on to that dream of racing in red. I couldn’t be happier to realise that dream today. Today we start a new era in the history of this iconic team, and I can’t wait to see what story we will write together.”
Hamilton’s first day included meeting key personnel, touring the Fiorano test track, and visiting departments crucial to Ferrari’s operations. Team boss Frederic Vasseur and CEO Benedetto Vigna accompanied him on a comprehensive introduction to Ferrari’s storied legacy.
Ferrari described the day as “a total immersion programme,” noting Hamilton’s interactions with vice-chairman Piero Ferrari and the technical team.
This week, Hamilton is expected to test a 2023 Ferrari car at Fiorano and Barcelona before the unveiling of the 2025 challenger on February 19, further cementing his integration into Ferrari’s plans for the upcoming season.
