Brentford boss hails Chelsea as Premier League best football team
Brentford manager Thomas Frank has described Chelsea as “maybe the best team in the Premier League right now” ahead of their clash at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Since Enzo Maresca replaced Mauricio Pochettino in June, Chelsea have enjoyed a stunning resurgence, winning six consecutive matches in all competitions.
Their recent form, including four straight Premier League victories, has lifted them to second in the table, just four points behind leaders Liverpool.
“They are maybe even more in-form than Liverpool, even though they are top of the league,” Frank said, praising Chelsea’s dominant displays. “They are playing incredible football and are well-coached. Maresca has done a top job so far with his coaching staff and they look extremely dangerous.”
Chelsea, the Premier League’s top scorers, have netted 15 goals in their last four games, including a thrilling 4-3 win over Tottenham and a 3-1 triumph against Astana in the Europa Conference League.
Brentford, currently ninth, are coming off an impressive 4-2 victory against Newcastle but have struggled on the road, earning just one point from their last 21 available away.
However, the Bees boast an impeccable record at Stamford Bridge, having won all three of their previous Premier League encounters there.
Acknowledging Chelsea’s firepower, Frank said, “[Chelsea] have so many threats going forward and have top-quality players all over the pitch. I expect an unbelievably difficult game. They are massive favourites, but we believe we can compete against anyone and we believe we can win.”
