Arsenal coach gives latest injury updates on Trossard, Odegaard, Saka, others
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has given latest injury updates about his players in a pre-match press conference ahead of their tie with Nottingham Forest
Mikel was more optimistic about Leandro Trossard who was forced off in the first half of Belgium’s loss against Israel on Monday night after Ben White was down with a knee injury
Giving updates on his players, the Spanish tactician said, “Trossard seems to be OK.”
“He trained this morning and seems to be feeling good. We will assess everything with the doctor right now, as he was able to be part of that session, so that’s good.”
Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice weren’t called up by England due to their respective injury concerns, and there was also good news when it came to the duo.
“They have had their first partial session today, so very good as well,” Mikel added. “I prefer it when players are in the routine, in the rhythm to play.
They couldn’t do it because they were injured, so, we have tried to facilitate everything that we could for them to be in the best condition for tomorrow.”
Om Martin Odegaard, he said, “He played really well [against Chelsea] and that had consequences because after such a long time not playing he needed time to recover,” Mikel added.
“The ankle reacted and other areas of the body with so much load going into it. It wasn’t ideal, but he’s been OK, the last day and a half he’s trained with the team and he’s feeling good, so that’s really positive.”
