Desmond Elliot clears air on gay allegation
Nollywood actor and politician Desmond Elliot has publicly denied allegations that he is gay, dismissing the claims as baseless.
The controversy erupted after a blog post accused several Nigerian celebrities, including prominent actors and reality stars, of being gay.
The list, which featured a number of high-profile figures, quickly sparked heated reactions across social media.
In an interview with TVC, Elliot addressed the accusations, calling them unfounded. He stressed that he has more important issues to focus on and does not wish to engage in baseless rumors.
He said, “Why would I respond to allegations made against me when it did not reduce or increase my life?
“Secondly, it is an opinion that is being conceived. And I do not think it is necessary for me to come out and say it’s true or not true; as long as I’m affecting people positively, I’m good.
“If you feel you identify as something as long as it is within the law. People do not have to accept it, do you.
“So let me say right here, I am straight. You can never have anyone straighter than me.
“If some people want to enjoy themselves through publicity, that is left to them but I do not care really. Do you and enjoy yourself but do it within the law and with respect to your neighbours.”
