Breaking: Nigerians thrown into darkness as national grid suffers fresh collapse
Nigeria has once again been plunged into darkness following a national power grid collapse, marking the second such incident within a week and the 12th in the past 11 months, intensifying concerns over the country’s power reliability.
The Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) confirmed the latest collapse in a message to its customers. The company stated: “Please be informed that we experienced a system outage today, 07 November 2024, at 11:29 hours, affecting supply within our network.”
IKEDC assured customers that power restoration efforts are ongoing in collaboration with key stakeholders, though no specific timeline for restoration was given. “Restoration of supply is ongoing. Kindly bear with us,” the company added.
As of the time of this report, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has not issued an official explanation for Thursday’s grid collapse.
