Just in: Centre for Peace mourns as Unilorin loses Japanese staff

The University of Ilorin community is mourning the passing of Mrs. Cleonice Yumi Takano Balogun, popularly known as “Mama Peace,” a valued IT Officer at the Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies.
Her passing was confirmed by her husband, Prof. Balogun of the Faculty of Agriculture, who shared the somber news.
The international staff of Japanese origin is well known for her dedication and service to the university making her an integral part of the Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies, where her contributions were widely respected.
Her sudden departure has left a void among colleagues and students alike, who remember her for her commitment to peace initiatives and her warm spirit.
In a statement expressing sorrow and remembrance, Prof. Jawondo Ibrahim Abdulganiyu, Director of the Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies, conveyed his condolences to her family and the university community
“Dear all, with a heavy heart, I wish to inform you that I received this morning the news of the death of our colleague Mrs Balogun alias MAMA PEACE from Prof. Balogun of the Faculty of Agriculture, university of Ilorin, the husband to the deceased
“Until her sudden death our IT Officer at the Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies, university of Ilorin. We pray the Lord to grant her eternal life.”
