‘It is time to leave Lebanon,’ Ghanaian government tells citizens
The Government of Ghana has issued a strong advisory, warning all Ghanaian citizens residing in Lebanon to leave the country immediately due to the rapidly deteriorating security situation.
This warning comes amid escalating tensions between Israel and Lebanon, with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration expressing serious concerns about the potential danger posed to Ghanaian nationals.
The ongoing war between Israel and Lebanon has created a “rapidly unfolding crisis” in the region, prompting the call for immediate evacuation. Ghanaian citizens are advised to evacuate via the next commercial flight to avoid emergencies.
For Ghanaians facing difficulties leaving due to a lack of travel documents, the government has provided avenues to facilitate their exit. They can contact the Embassy of Ghana in Cairo, Egypt, or the Ghana Honorary Consulate in Beirut, Lebanon, to acquire Emergency Travel Certificates.
The Embassy of Ghana in Cairo can be reached via four telephone numbers and an email address, while the Ghana Honorary Consulate in Beirut has made available two contact numbers, an email, and its official Facebook page for assistance.
Other countries, including France, Italy, Australia, Canada, the US, and the UK, have also urged their citizens to leave Lebanon due to escalating tensions. Slovakia has even sent a military aircraft to evacuate its citizens and nationals of other countries. The international community is working together to ensure the safety of citizens in the region.
