Ethan Nwaneri made a memorable impact for Arsenal, scoring twice to help the Gunners secure a comfortable 5-1 victory over Bolton and advance to the Carabao Cup fourth round. Raheem Sterling also found the net on his full debut.
On a night when Mikel Arteta handed first starts to four academy prospects, Nwaneri was the standout performer.
The 17-year-old starlet scored on either side of halftime, widening the gap between his team and their League One opponents. Arsenal will now face Preston North End in the fourth round.
Commenting on the player’s debut and performance, coach Mikel Arteta expressed his happiness over the blliant outing of the young player. He futher applauded his confidence and belief, stressing that he knows what the player can do on the pitch.
“Overall again, he was really good – a really strong performance for him. He really feels part of us. You can tell that he plays with a confidence and belief that he knows what to do on the pitch.
“It’s another step. He’s ahead of what anyone could expect. Since he joined in with the first-team, he’s always ahead of what we expected, of what I expected. He deserves that, he is part of us and he will have the minutes.”
