Man City, Arsenal dominate 2023/24 PFA Premier League Team of the Year list

Manchester City and Arsenal dominated the list of the 2023/24 PFA Premier League Team of the Year following their brilliant displays in the just concluded season.

Kyle Walker, Rodrigo, Phil Foden and Erling Haaland were all selected for the prestigious annual eleven, from the team that won the 2023/24 Premier League season.

The quartet of the City players made huge individual contributions in what proved another outstanding season of success with the defending champions securing a historic fourth straight Premier League title as well also lifting both the UEFA Super Club and FIFA Club World Cup.

Despite being sidelined for two months in the winter with a foot issue, the Norwegian star striker, Haaland, conjured up an astonishing 38 goals from 45 appearances – 27 coming in the Premier League alone to earn him a second successive Golden Boot prize.

For Arsenal, David Raya, William Saliba, Gabriel, Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard also made the list following their sterling performances for the Gunners as they lost the league title by slim margins.

Raya enjoyed a standout debut season at the Emirates Stadium, keeping 16 clean sheets to pick up the Golden Glove award. The Spaniard made a host of superb saves and his distribution turned defence into attack at lightning speed.

William Saliba and Gabriel earned their places on the list as they continued their rock-solid centre-back pairing which formed in the 2022/23 campaign.

Arsenal’s captain rounds off the Gunners’ inclusion after another sensational campaign. Named as the club’s Player of the Season, Odegaard created 10 assists in the league and netted eight goals in the process. No player in the league created more chances than the midfielder (88) and that form also saw him nominated for the PFA Player’s Player of the Year award.

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk makes his fourth appearance in the XI with Ollie Watkins rounding off the selection after his 19 goals and 13 assists helped Aston Villa qualify for the Champions League.
