Manchester City’s Phil Foden has described his award as the PFA Player of the Year as something special as he applauded coach Pep Guardiola and his teammates for their contributions to his success.

The prestigious accolade follows on the back of a 2023/24 campaign that was widely acknowledged as the finest season yet in the Academy graduate’s glittering career.

The England attacking midfielder was one of the key components in helping drive Pep Guardiola’s side to what was an historic fourth consecutive Premier League – the first time any English men’s team has achieved such a feat.

In further recognition of his impact, Foden was also voted into the PFA Team of the Year, alongside City colleagues Kyle WalkerRodrigo and Erling Haaland.

Reacting to the success, Foden says, “To win this award is something very special and it is one that I am very proud of and grateful for.”

“To be recognised this way by your fellow professionals means everything and I would like to thank everyone who voted for me.

“I also want to pay special thanks to Pep, the City coaches and all my team mates as they help me to try and get better every single day.

“I’d also like congratulate Kyle, Rodrigo and Erling on being voted into the PFA Team of the Year as it’s great to see their amazing quality recognised in such a way.

“Last season was another very special one for everyone at the Club but now all our focus is concentrated on trying to achieve more success this term.”
