AFCON 2025 Qualifiers: Super Eagles to begin training on September 1
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will begin their training camp for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on September 1, ahead of their matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda.
With no coach in charge, the team will host Benin Republic at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on September 7, followed by an away match against Rwanda at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali on September 10.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has not yet appointed a permanent head coach for the Super Eagles, and the squad for the upcoming qualifiers remains undisclosed.
In the meantime, Augustine Eguavoen, the NFF’s Technical Director, is poised to take charge of the team on an interim basis for the two upcoming matches.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria currently placed 39th in the world based on FIFA’s latest rankings.
In June, Nigeria dropped eight places in the global rankings as the team plummet the impressive accumulated points gathered at the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) earlier this year.
