P-SQUARE betrayal: Peter unveils truth behind allegations
Peter Okoye, one half of the famous Nigerian musical duo P-SQUARE, has come forward to address allegations that have been circulating among fans and media alike.
The allegations involve claims that Peter reported his twin brother, Paul Okoye, to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Peter’s statement not only refutes these allegations but also reveals a deeper, more convoluted tale of betrayal and financial misconduct within the family.
Peter began his statement by addressing a common misconception about P-SQUARE. While P-SQUARE is perceived as a public brand, Peter emphasizes that the members are still a family at their core.
“P-SQUARE is not just a family – it’s a public brand,” he stated. This public nature of their brand, he argues, justifies the transparency that fans expect regarding their internal affairs.
Peter categorically denies ever reporting his twin brother Paul to the EFCC.
“I never reported my twin brother PAUL to the EFCC,” he insists. According to Peter, Paul’s claims that he wrote a petition against him, leading to Paul being asked to provide a surety, are entirely false.
The heart of the controversy lies in the discovery of a secret company named Northside Music, which bore a striking resemblance to their official management company, Northside Entertainment.
“The founders and directors of this secret company were none other than JUDE Okoye and his wife Ifeoma Okoye,” Peter revealed. The registered address was the family home of Jude’s wife, a fact that left Peter in utter shock.
Peter approached Paul multiple times to discuss the mysterious company and the missing royalties but was met with consistent denials. Despite these denials, Peter sought to clarify that he had never included Paul in any petition to the EFCC. His legal team had explicit instructions to focus solely on Jude and Ifeoma Okoye.
The investigation took a dramatic turn when Jude Okoye admitted to diverting millions of dollars from P-SQUARE’s royalties into the secret company’s account. Jude’s confession led to his detention and the freezing of his bank accounts. Paul, on the other hand, was only invited for questioning due to his financial transactions with Northside Music.
The EFCC findings were damning. Northside Music had been collecting P-SQUARE’s royalties for years, funneling the money through a bureau de change into Jude’s personal bank account. Further scrutiny of Jude’s account revealed multiple transactions where funds were split between Jude and Paul, raising questions about Paul’s involvement.
Jude defended these transactions by claiming the money sent to Paul was repayment for a loan related to the sale of their American property. This explanation seemed to clear Paul in the eyes of the EFCC, but the damage to the brothers’ relationship was already done.
Peter plans to release all pertinent documents and evidence once the EFCC completes its investigation.
“I will make the exact petition that doesn’t include PAUL’s name public,” Peter promises. He also intends to release the final EFCC report, receipts, and other related documents to ensure full transparency.
