Somali soldier bags death sentence for premeditated murder in Mogadishu
The Somali Armed Forces Court has found a soldier guilty of premeditated murder, resulting in a death sentence.
The soldier, Abdirahman Mohamed Mohamud, also known as Tokiyo, deliberately killed Abdijabar Mohamed Hassan on August 12, 2022.
According to the ruling, The murder occurred in a tea restaurant at the Tarabuunka intersection in the Hodan district of Mogadishu, where Abdijibaar Mohamed was fatally stabbed.
Abdirahman Mohamed Mohamud, who fled after the murder, surrendered to the military on January 28, 2024, following an extended search.
After an investigation, the Military Court’s Prosecution Office requested the case’s closure, which was granted on February 18, 2024.
After hearing the defense and prosecution arguments, the military court judge sentenced Abdirahman Mohamed to death by firing squad for Abdijibaar Mohamed’s murder.
This is not the first time a Somali armed forces court sentenced a soldier to death for killing another soldier, a few months ago, the court ruled a similar case in Mogadishu.
