NSCIA anticipates Ramadan 1445 A.H, urges Muslim Ummah to search for crescent

In preparation for the sacred month of Ramadan 1445 A.H., the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has extended warm felicitations to the Muslim Ummah, under the esteemed leadership of President-General Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar.

Embracing the significance of Ramadan, the NSCIA urges Muslims to engage in fasting as enjoined by the Quran.

Aligning with the National Moon Sighting Committee’s counsel, President-General Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar encouraged the Muslim community to search for the crescent of Ramadan 1445 A.H. on the evening of Sunday, 10th March 2024.

“Should the crescent be sighted, Monday, 11th March 2024, will mark the commencement of Ramadan; otherwise, Tuesday, 12th March 2024, will automatically be the first day,” NSCIA said in a statement signed by Deputy Secretary General Prof. Salisu Shehu.

The NSCIA emphasized the importance of charity amid economic challenges, urging affluent Muslims to support the less privileged during and after Ramadan.

Additionally, traders are advised against hoarding or unjustifiably increasing prices of essential goods throughout the fasting period.

In a heartfelt plea, the NSCIA encouraged Muslims to pray for divine support for the Palestinians, seeking liberation from oppression during the holy month of Ramadan.

The Council calls upon Muslims nationwide to be vigilant on the night of Sunday, 10th March 2024, anticipating the official announcement by President-General Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar regarding the commencement of the 1445 A.H. Ramadan fast.
