Roy Hodgson: Crystal Palace boss steps down
Roy Hodgson has stepped down as Crystal Palace manager with former Eintracht Frankfurt boss Oliver Glasner set to take over.
Hodgson, 76, was taken ill during training on Thursday and then underwent tests in hospital.
The club confirmed he is now out of hospital and “doing well”.
In a club statement announcing his departure, Hodgson said: “I understand, given recent circumstances, it may be prudent at this time for the club to plan ahead, and therefore I have taken the decision to step aside so that the club can bring forward their plans for a new manager, as intended for this summer.”
The former England manager’s exit comes with Palace sitting 16th in the Premier League, five points above the relegation zone, ahead of the upcoming match with third-from-bottom Everton on Monday.
It is understood Glasner will take charge after that game and will be tasked with boosting the form of a Palace side which has won just six of their 24 league fixtures this season, with only three of those victories coming since a 1-0 success at Manchester United in September.
