Stanley Nwabali receives over 250k new followers on Instagram after heroic AFCON outing

Nigeria’s number one goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali has risen in fame as he received thousands of new followers from Nigeria and beyond through his Instagram account.

Nigeria progressed into the final of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire after the team defeated the Bafana Bafana of South Africa 4-2 in a penalty shoot-out after the two sides played a 1-1 draw after extra time.

Nwabali played a crucial role in the win by stopping the South Africans as he recorded vital saves to keep Nigeria in the game.

The South Africa-based goalkeeper was the hero of the night as he saved two penalties from the Bafana Bafana, therefore helping the Super Eagles to fly into the AFCON final for the first time since 2013.

In response to his performance, the official page of the goalkeeper received nearly 250 thousand followers on Instagram in less than 24 hours.

His X account has also grown with over 97,000 followers with his last post receiving 1.4 million views

Born 10 June 1996, Stanley Bobbi ‘Bobo’ Nwabali plays as a goalkeeper for South Africa’s  Premier Soccer League club Chippa United.

In 2019, the goalkeeper joined Go Round FC where he started his football career as a striker, before later securing a move to Enyimba in 2020, followed by joining Lobi StarsKatsina United and Chippa United in 2022.

Nwabalai and his teammates will face hosts Cote d’Ivoire in the final later on Sunday.
