Nwabali: Nigeria Football Federation announces fresh update on injured goalkeeper

Nigeria’s goal stopper, Stanley Nwabali, has been tipped to return to action in the Super Eagles’ quarter-final clash with the Palancas Negras of Angola, says the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Nwabali suffered a mild ligament injury during the Super Eagles quarter-final clash with Cameroon on Saturday.

The brilliant goalkeeper will undergo another test on Wednesday to determine his fitness level ahead of the game with the oil-rich central African country.

The new Nigerian number one has three clean sheets in four games under his belt at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations finals.

“The doctors have been working on him to see if he will come good in a late fitness test 48 hours before the cracker with the southern Africans,” reads the statement.

“Fingers crossed. If all goes well, he might be available for selection.”

Nigeria is hunting for another AFCON glory after missing several opportunities.

The Super Eagles made it to the quarterfinals following their 2-0 win against Cameroon.
