Unai Emery speaks on how Aston Villa conquered star-studded Man City
Aston Villa boss Unai Emery says his team’s victorious outing against League champions Manchester City can be linked to how decently the home sides took control of the match from the beginning until the final whistle.
Aston Villa produced fearless performances as they defeated Manchester City 1-0.
Leon Bailey’s deflected strike was all Aston Villa had to run away with the available points against Manchester City at Villa Park.
In a post-match interview, the Spanish tactician said, “playing against Man City, who won the title, Champions League too. It’s a difficult challenge to take control of the game for 90 minutes but we did it.”
He added, “We created lots of chances and we controlled the attack in the high press. We were believing.
“Today was fantastic but we must keep a balance. The dressing room is happy, but the next challenge is on Saturday. Tomorrow we are focusing again on Saturday.”
With the victory against Man City, Villa, who have now won 14 consecutive home Premier League matches, moved into third place in the table, while fourth-placed City are six points adrift of leaders Arsenal.
