Arsenal’s head coach, Mikel Arteta has praised his team following a 2-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in a much needed win for the north Londoners.

Bukayo Saka’s opener was Arsenal’s 100th goal of 2023 (now 101).

The goal lifted Arsenal to the fifth big five European side to reach this total across all competitions this calendar year after Man City, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen.

The second goal came from the skipper of the club, Martin ødegaard to give the gunners a slender win despite a fight back from the visitors who managed to return a goal through Matheus Santos Carneiro Cunha.

Talking to the BBC Match of the Day, the elated Arteta noted that, “Football is not perfect, but I’m really happy with the way we played.

“It should have been a much bigger scoreline. We made a mistake and they take the chance, and it’s game on in the Premier League.

“We had chances and we didn’t put them away, but we kept trying. We had some big, big chances to put the game to bed.

“We have to keep winning matches and performing the way we are. That’s the challenge, to keep doing that every three days because we have another important game at Luton.”

Arsenal now lead the Premier League table ahead of Manchester City as they go four points clear at the top.
