As the ongoing war in Gaza nears a possible pause, the number of people killed in Israeli air raids since the Oct. 7 Hamas offensive has jumped to 14,532, including over 6,000 children and 4,000 women.
The media office in the besieged enclave said on Wednesday that the number of deaths among medical personnel stood at 205, including doctors, nurses, and paramedics.
The office said the number of people injured is beyond 35,000, adding that more than 75% of them are children and women.
The number of destroyed government buildings surged to 102, along with 266 schools, of which 67 are no longer in service
25 members of the civil defense teams and 64 journalists were also among those killed in the military offensives.
So far, 85 mosques have been completely destroyed, while 174 are damaged in the enclave. Three churches were also targeted in the raids.
Meanwhile, the four-day pause in fighting that was expected to start on Thursday – has been delayed until at least Friday.
The delay is caused by last minute details of which hostages will be released and how, a Palestinian official tells the AFP news agency.
