It’s over! Nigeria’s sensational chef loses Longest Cooking Marathon title
The record-breaking Nigerian chef Hilda Baci, who recently accomplished a new Guinness World Records (GWR) for the longest cook-a-thon, has lost her title barely five months after she came into the limelight.
On Tuesday, GWR announced that an Irish chef, Alan Fisher, had broken Hilda Baci’s record.
GWR said Alan broke the longest cooking marathon record (individual) after clocking in a time of 119 hours and 57 minutes, adding that the time was “more than 24 hours longer than the previous record” held by the Nigerian chef.
The records-keeping body did not disclose when Alan began and when he ended the cooking marathon.
The Irish chef, who owns a restaurant in Japan, is currently the record holder for the longest baking marathon (individual) with a time of 47 hours and 21 minutes, according to GWR.
“What’ even more impressive is that Alan took on both attempts back to back, meaning he was at work in the kitchen for over 160 hours with just over a day of rest in between,” GWR said.
Recall that in June, the GWR announced Hilda as the record holder for the longest cooking marathon (individual) after reviewing all footage of the exercise.
The 26-year-old Nigerian turned on her cooking gas on Thursday, May 11, and ended the cooking race on Monday, May 15. She prepared over 100 pots of food during her four-day cooking spree.
